CBD which is short for cannabidiol is one of the many active components of the cannabis, a.k.a. marijuana plant. Hemp is also part of the cannabis plant which is used for industrial purposes and for food/nutrition.
The earliest research on CBD dates back to the 1940’s. More recently though, it has gained more attention most likely due to increased legal legislation on this amazing plant.
CBD is not to be confused with THC which causes a psychotropic or ‘high’ feeling. THC is the principal psychoactive constituent of cannabis which is not only considered a street drug but is also now legal in many states for specific medical purposes.
CBD has been proven to tremendously help people suffering from pain, mental health, addiction and various neurological disorders, as well as, certain digestive disorders.
CBD is Superior to other Drugs
If you compare CBD oil to a typical FDA approved prescription drug, it is superior. Many scientists are coming to the forefront expressing their understanding of how CBD helps our whole body system, specifically because humans and animals, have cannabinoid receptor sites.
For example, professors at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil found that CBD directly activates one of the serotonin sites resulting in an anti-anxiety effect. Such research also discussed the increase of anxiety for those ingesting high levels of THC. Again, it’s the THC in the cannabis plant that makes people ‘high’, not CBD.
Move over Cheech and Chong, CBD treats the whole body!
Therapeutic Effects of CBD
Furthermore, CBD directly interacts with our ion channels, resulting in a therapeutic effect and reducing pain, as well as, inflammation. Medications that are prescribed by medical doctors or psychiatrists focus on one illness or symptom within the body.
CBD oil and other natural remedies work with our whole body system to help with homeostasis – Bringing our whole body back to balance where it naturally wants to be. This is the basis for our belief in Holistic Medicine. CBD oil is a natural and safe way to help yourself or your loved ones.

Where to Purchase
I would suggest visiting a local, independently owned health food or vitamin store to purchase your CBD oil. There are different types to choose from including topical balms, flavored oils, vapes and chewable candies. Also, you may want to choose one that is organic.
Please know that a lot of CBD products on the market contain traces of THC, usually less than 0.03 mg per serving. Apparently, this is not enough to make someone feel ‘high’, however, I think that it’s important to disclose this information.
After purchasing your CBD supplement, please follow the instructions on the package/bottle. Whenever I start a new supplement, I take the lowest dose possible to make sure it is the right supplement for me. We want to feel better, not completely different.
