Let Your Body Heal

Found yourself at the doctor’s office again picking up some more antibiotics for that cold?  It’s absolutely NOT NECESSARY!!!  In fact, it’s harming you…

Unfortunately, when we take antibiotics, we don’t allow our immune systems to do the work that it was created to do – HEAL.  The natural bacteria in our body and in our foods actually work together.  They almost communicate with each other to build our immune systems back up.

They also recognize when there is a repeat of pathogens or chemicals coming through.  This helps to explain why taking the same antibiotic that you’ve taken before, won’t work again.

Furthermore, antibiotics destroy our healthy flora or microbiota (microscopic bacteria or organisms) that we actually need to fight infections and common ailments.  Read: Dirt And You

Natural Foods & Supplements

There are actually certain foods, spices, herbs and other organisms such as probiotics that are available for us to use to assist our body’s healing process.

The next time you feel a cold symptom coming on, head to your local vitamin or health food store, rather than your doctor’s office.  (Please consult your physician if symptoms worsen, if you have an autoimmune disease and please read my  disclaimer.)

Below is a list of healthy foods or supplements with little tidbits about each.  You may want to consider implementing these into your diet before taking any over-the-counter or prescription medications.

Garlic – antiviral, antifungal

Fresh Cold Pressed Organic Juice –  Juicing helps your body heal because it gives you a huge boost of nutrients which a readily available.  I highly suggest checking out your local juice bar when you don’t have time to juice at home and if you’re in the Sarasota area – my go to place is Crop Juice!

Apple Cider Vinegar – Used for decades as a whole body tonic.  Simply take a one ounce shot in the morning.

Spices & Herbs – Spices have been known for centuries to boost your immune system and metabolism.  Such spices or herbs for healing include; turmeric, ginger, oregano, clove, cinnamon, cayenne, nettles, black pepper and many more.

Wild Oregano Oil – Has strong anti-viral properties.  Beware it is strong tasting but very powerful against the worst bad bugs.

Kefir Water – Click the link for a recipe or to purchase kefir grains which is a natural culture, a food source to produce good bacteria.

Olive Leaf Extract – Strong immune booster.  Known treatment for herpes and chronic fatigue syndrome.

Agarikon – Anti-viral medicinal mushroom.

Manuka or Raw Local Honey – Rich in immune boosting nutrients including amino acids, vitamins and minerals.  It is very soothing for the throat and treats infection.  Can’t get rid of a canker sore, try manuka honey.

Licorice Root, Slippery Elm and Marshmallow Root – Usually found in the tinctured herbs section of your local health food or vitamin store, these natural liquid herbal solutions are very soothing for the throat and helps with excessive coughing

Grapefruit Seed Extract – To be used in moderation for it’s antiviral, anti-fungal and anti-parasitic properties.

Elderberry Syrup – Used for many years to prevent colds and viruses.

Colloidal Silver – Diluted trace mineral that acts as an antibiotic, consult your health store consultant for dosing.

Pink Himalayan Sea Salt – Gargle with an 1/8 of a tsp in water for sore throats or bacterial injections.

Coconut oil – Contains lauric acid which converts to monolaurin in our bodies – a fatty acid which kills bacteria.

Pumpkin seeds – Contains zinc which helps keep immune system balanced especially if taken at the very beginning of a cold.

Citrus fruits – Rich in Vitamin C and potassium.

Berries – Rich in antioxidants.

Mineral water and or Coconut water – Contains minerals including potassium which will replenish your body if you’re sick from diarrhea or vomiting.

Sweet potatoes, Carrots & Kale – Great source of Vitamin A,  another immune boosting vitamin.  Best if taken in food form rather than as a supplement.

Mind Over Body

As you enjoy these wonderful foods, it’s also very important to visualize your body as a whole system working together in harmony and balance (this is known as homeostasis ).

I found for myself that listening to 432 hz music  is very healing.  The frequency is known to attune to your body’s healing vibration. Once I was hooked on this, I signed up for unlimited access to Amazon Music.

Five years ago, when I was sick with the flu, I listened to this Mozart healing music on YouTube  while drinking homemade sweet potato soup loaded with ginger, garlic, black pepper and cayenne.
